myBEAUTY: Product Review for ACNE

Hello Lovely Ladies!

So here’s a quick product review on fighting acne before a major event.

Last week, my best friend got married and I was the maid of honor. As my beauty (bad) luck would have it, I started breaking out two weeks prior to the event. The first week I developed huge pimples that I first thought were boils around my cheeks, (yes, ewww) and then I realized it was my period (sorry TMI). Immediately I got my Clean and Clear 10% Benzoyl Peroxide cream. ImageThis cream (or gel) helps reduce big sized pimples in 3 days (I swear!).

After my plague of BIG PIMPLES, a couple of days later I developed rash like pimples around my cheeks (always), lower jaw area and then forehead (yikes! I know!).  I was soo embarrased. Here I was a week before my friend’s wedding, looking like I just HIT PUBERTY!! :(

Now a little about me, I’ve been fighting ACNE all my pubescent and adult life, and knowing what I know about pimples, especially the ones around your cheeks, lower jaw  area, I knew they were HORMONALLY, and these are the worst types because they take a while to fade.

Knowing I didnt have time to completely get rid of them I decided to look for ways to at least minimize them, and hopefully when I wear makeup for the wedding, I’d still look almost flawless.

I asked around and a friend of mine recommended CLEAR ESSENCE Medicated Cleansing Bar.

Now, I have never tried this product, but I figured why not since the active ingredient is 3% Sulfur! Now ladies, if you want to fight pimple be sure to look for products with the following ingredients KNOWN to fight acne: Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid and Sulfur.

And so I decided to wash my face with it, I wet my face, lathered and washed.

REVIEW: As amazing as sulfur is for fighting acne, I am not a big fan of the smell, but in this situation I didnt have a choice. The soap is great! does not leave your skin completely dry afterwards, actually cleans the dirt and leftover makeup very well and most importantly HELPS in getting rid of pimples. It really does dry it out!

Even though I was not completely pimple free for my friend’s big day, its been two weeks of using this soap and my skin is getting back to normal.

Overall it works.

After a month, I’ll let you know if I’m flawless!! :)
