February Favorites!

Hello Readers!

Hope you had a fab weekend, as you know every month we will be giving you a list of 4-5 of our favorite Hair and Beauty Items or services.

This february in a bid to save more money (did I mention I was a product junkie?) I decided to find Multipurpose Products for countless DIY’s, and boy did I have FUN!

February was all about Tea Tree Oil (personal favorite), Jamaican Castor and Coconut Oil, Namaste Organics Black soap, Apple Cider Vinegar.

First, Tea Tree Oil.

I put Tea Tree Oil in practically EVERY face/hair/skincare item I used. Here’s what I did:

1. I intensified my cleanser by adding 5 drops of Tea tree oil AFTER I lathered it and cleansed my face with it, ONLY at night. Afterwards I created my own DIY ACNE moisturizer by adding 4 drops of Jojoba Oil to 3 drops of Tea tree oil and massaged to face every single night.

– I honestly believe that this method helped control my acne, because during my Lady Cycle, I did not BREAK OUT at all!! (Glory be to God :)

2. You all know how much I LOVE black soap, and when I saw Namaste Organics black soap at Ebeano, I could not resist. The first thing I did was use it as a Shampoo and let me tell you, a little of this product goes a LONG WAY. It LATHERS really really well. One of my favorite shampoo has tea tree oil in it, and since I ran out, I decided to use some Namaste Organics black soap and add 5 drops of Tea tree oil to it, and wash my hair. My scalp honestly felt SUPER clean, and more importantly I liked that menthol like feeling afterwards.

(yes, I really like Tea Tree Oil, loll)

Another great multipurpose product I experimented with this month was Apple Cider Vinegar. I bought mine at Shop-rite. I normally like using it with my clay masque for a deep cleansing masque, but this time I decided to try a Hair rinse with it and as a toner.

Hair-Rinse: Rinsing the hair with Vinegar removes scaly build-up and residue from hair shafts and closes the cuticles. Since residue coats the hair causing it to look dull, removing residue gives your hair more shine. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup to 1 cup of apple cider vinegar (ACV) with 16 ounces of water.
After shampooing apply the vinegar rinse. Massage into hair and scalp and pay special attention to the ends. Let sit for a couple minutes then rinse.

I tried this, and guess what? it DID make my hair shinier! who knew that all these years instead of applying Hair sheen, you could just do a Vinegar rinse?

Vinegar as Toner: The recipe calls for diluting vinegar and applying it to your face, but instead I decided to use it as a wash, meaning that I mixed with my water and used it to wash my face. The theory behind ACV as a toner is this: ACV has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, as well as the right pH to balance our skin.

Last but the least of my multi-purpose items is Jamaican Castor/Coconut Oil.

Unlike the regular Jamaican Castor Oil, this one contains coconut oil which makes it perfect to add to body creams for extra moisture or just apply to hair as normal.

So there you have it, my favorite PRODUCTS for February!
