We’ve all heard, we are what we eat, but do you really know what that means?
Certain foods and vegetables have the power to heal us internally and transform the physical appearance of our skin. Below are some food that will not only keep you healthy, but repair and restore your skin’s health!
Tomatoes
These help naturally to  protect your skin from harmful UV rays and sunburn. Tomatoes boost skin collagen which keeps it elastic and supple. It could also reduce the risk of developing certain cancers with the presence of  lycopene. However, eating tomatoes does not mean skipping sunscreen entirely. Tomatoes can be consumed raw, cooked, or incorporated into our drinks.
Spinach
Spinach  contains 13 flavonoids with anti-cancer properties that offers  natural protection against skin cancer . Spinach is also an anti-inflammatory and good source of Vitamin B which helps in maintaining the firmness of your skin. Spinach can be eaten raw in salad, as a smoothie, and it can also be cooked lightly (over cooking it tend to reduce its nutrients content and quality, thereby making it less effective).

Beans or Legumes

Beans and legumes have been proven to be biotin-rich, and this promotes healthier and younger looking skin, as well as HAIR! A lack of biotin can cause dry skin and hair in addition to brittle nails. Beans come in endless varieties, it could be prepared in a whole lot of different ways; so it is easy to add them to your meal. If  you are in search of beautiful nails and skin, eat lots of beans.

Salmon

Salmon has been found to contain Omega-3 fatty acids in large amounts and these are great for overall health, and a study has shown that they can help prevent the development of precancerous skin lesions.  Salmon and other fishes such as  tuna, are super sources for omega-3. Plus, the pigment that gives salmon its pink colour is a powerful antioxidant that may protect against UV rays and has been shown to improve skin’s elasticity. Salmon is also a great anti depressant.

Romaine lettuce

Romaine lettuce is high in vitamins such that just six leaves of romaine will give you more than 100% of your Daily Value of vitamin A, which helps your skin by improving cell turnover functioning. Romaine lettuce is also an excellent source of Vitamin C, which helps to promote collagen formation, essential for keeping our skin youthful looking and supple. Plus, the potassium in romaine lettuce is said to improve circulation which gives the skin a healthy glow. Little wonder romaine lettuce is also locally grown and consumed by locals due to its large benefits.
